Kirk is a native of Colorado and is a third generation Japanese American. Kirk has an MA in Counseling through Denver Seminary. He planted the Vineyard Church in Canon City, CO in 1997 with his wife, Jane. Subsequently their family moved to Grand Junction, CO in 2007 to become the lead pastor of Canyon View Vineyard Church. Kirk retired as Senior Pastor in 2024 and is now Pastor Emeritus, a trained Spiritual Director through Sustainable Faith and has served as a Mentor for the pastors of Color through the Vineyard USA. 

In this season for the Durango Vineyard Church, navigating our new building with all its complexities, we have asked to Kirk to step into a temporary Elder role to guide us with his wisdom and experience. Kirk was also the sending Pastor for the Durango Vineyard in 2013 and has a 20 year relationship with DJ and Vanessa.
